SAFE WATER IS SCARCE

  • Save water. Save lives

  • Water is a basic requirement of all the lives on the earth. 71% surface  of the earth is surrounded by water.  Despite the huge qauntity of water on the earth, there are water crisis. Because 96.5% water is in ocean which is saline and brackish water containing many harmful components. Only 4% water is clean and fresh to use. Which is locked up in ice-glaciers, rivers and in the underground water. Rivers share only 1/10000 of  fresh water part. Water is contaminated out of   effluence industrial waste water into rivers, plastic waste, etc.  Almost 63% sewage water of urban area mixes with river water. 21% disease spread out because of polluted water.  In India, 10-15% fresh water is used in industries, out of it 87% is used thermal power plants. There are much diversity in India. In India many of its states is reeling under the water crisis. Punjab is a only state which has kept its position first  under the survey of access of safe drinking water with 97% and kerala hold worst position with 33%. Only 163 million people have access to fresh and clean water in India.

India's most of population lives in outskirts of urban area. Tamilnadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Rajasthan and many other states don't have access to water. For getting water people stand in queues for long hour and  Dig the dry ponds so that they could get a little quantity of water. All the four major reservoirs that supply drinking water to Chennai have dipped far below the zero level and today hold not even 1% of their capacity. All people are bound to drink muddy water. In some areas water is provided through tankers. In Bihar,  the state government launched a policy that, by 2020, all houses would be connected with water pipes And government provides fund for drilling well and set up submersible pump to pull out the water from the womb of earth. Now in Bihar condition is that people spend eighty thousands to one lakh money for submersible. And in Patna every street has its own submersible pump fir water  but they don't know that we have only one water resource at present time that is groundwater. If we use it in rash way, that day is not far which is not less than our blood on hand.
I think only government is not responsible for it, citizens of country are also reason for it.  There are many places in India where ponds were, but gradually they were annexed and Apartments, malls and houses were built. People should think if we annexed ponds land, how we get water. Ponds are one kind of water resources for recharging groundwater. It increases water level and keep the people's hope for getting water on.
And in India almost in whole world there are no strict policy for water. And this time when water crisis is main issue, Government of India must take measures and step towards water scarcity. I think Government must think about the revival of dry rivers, dams and ponds and provides water through best resources. And indian households must reserve water and build rain water harvesting plant at their homes. A law for waste water flows into river must be recognized. Though Industries need more water for their activities, water quantity must be reduced. Especially in summer season Government should keep it in mind that most water required activities should be halted for some time, so that saved water can be accessed to each and every person. Because  Every person has a right to getting fresh and clean water.
